Velociraptor ("speedy thief") is an extinct genus of dinosaurs from the Cretaceous (~85-80mya). Veloceraptor was a small, fast, bipedal carnivore about 1 metre tall and 2 metres long. Veloceraptor lived in a hot, dry environment and probably had a high intelligence similar to contemporary predatory cats such as lions.
Type Species: Velociraptor mongoliensis (H.F. Osborn, 1924)
