Bio, sorta
Retired software architect and developer, originally studied materials science, got several real degrees from a college on the Charles River, the one downstream from Harvard. Have a decades-old interest in molecular biology and genomics. Strong dislike of theocracy, anti-freedom dogma, pseudoscience and other bogus stuff, esp. that with an agenda that violates the U.S. Constitution (vs UFOs are merely harmless myths). If creationism ever does win out, I hope we can include Native American creation stories which I found far more ingenious and interesting than tired old myths from the Middle East.

Goals
I started editing EvoWiki because I bumped into it and I like doing wiki edits, esp. in ones that aren't so big and have lots of room to grow and are in an area that interests me. That was enough motivation for my first few weeks, but having dived into this battle of the cultural wars has really opened my eyes and given me a mission. Before I thought it was mostly an debates with lots of smoke and noise and little impact on real life, esp. as most participants had already made up their mind. But I now see it is more.
Theocracy is trying to take over (at least in my U.S.-centric view, already mostly has in the Islamic world) and creationism is now one of the main fronts. Abortion has arguably been, thus far, the biggest battle and main attention-getter, but the anti-abortion crowd seems to think they've won that one with Alito and now it is just a mopping-up action. Gay rights has died down a bit since the 2004 elections. So what will Rove whip up this time to enrage the mobs - I know, let's really get involved in "academic freedom" for students by shoving creationism and religion down their throats at schools at taxpayer expense.
I suppose I should have known but a battle against theocracy is never won, no matter how many victories are acquired. There is an endless supply of new martyrs ready to take the place of the fallen so the attacks keep coming and the war goes on. So EvoWiki and the other anti-creationist activities are an important tool in this fight and so I volunteer to do my part to combat the forces of dogma, ignorance and oppression.
