- The proponents of this claim are oblivious to the existence of Sivatherium, Palaeotragus, and the Okapi (a relative of giraffe with short neck), as well as virtually all other primitive giraffids, all of whom had relatively short necks compared to modern-day giraffes, and their immediate ancestors, such as Honanotherium.
