Long Rebuttal
Dinosaurs are the most mysterious of all creatures. All that we have of them is their fossils they left behind when they died out 65 million years ago. Even though, we know so much about dinosaurs, there is much, much more to them that we don't know about. Such as what color the dinosaurs were and what sounds did they made for instance. Yet Ken Ham, an absent-minded kook, who wants to brainwash Christians into a spiderweb of deception and lies, thinks he can solve the all of mystery of the dinosaurs by resorting to stupid lies, falsehood, and slander. At one time he helped John Morris to create a book for little children called What Really happened to the Dinosaurs (1990). Then he made up another pseudo-dinosaur book called D is for Dinosaur (1991) I've refuted in one of my previous essays. Both these books targets young children. Especially the preschool types. Then, Ham made up this book I'll refute now. This time it targets teens and adults called The Great Dinosaur Mystery Solved! (1998) which features illustrations made up by Dan Lietha, a comic strip artist who has also illustrated some of the dinosaurs images found in this book as well. His comics, found in the book, are all circulated in many YEC sites on the web like this one for example. However, there are websites like this one out there that took many of the comics and make parodies of them to refute the YEC clams that are made in the comics. In every stinkin' book and other forms of literature Ham and other YECs make, this book contains the same old recycled falsehoods, ad nauseams, harmful, threatening teachings, and idiocies that are all refuted time and time again with last sections reserved for preaching to the choir along with quotes taken out of context and distorted to fit the beliefs of the YE kooks like Ken Ham here. This book, I'm refuting here, is no exception.
Cover Description
To start the rebuttal off, on the front cover, there is a head of a Tyrannosaurus being shown covering almost the entire book cover. On the back cover, there is one false dinosaur illustration, 2 photos of Buddy Davis's models of Dinosaurs (of myth) and some actual photo images of dinosaur and marine reptile skeletons as shown in many real dinosaur books taken from various museums like the Black Hills Institute in South Dakota for instance. On top there is a book review that boasts claiming that this is a dinosaur book like you never seen before. Heck, there are books like this seen before, including The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible, Dinosaurs by Design, and Dinosaurs and the Bible. This book claims to teach people the true (word in bold capitalized letters.) history of the earth and its inhabitants that never was. It also claims to have your thinking to never be the same again. It will be the same, however, once you know of the flaws behind the YEC claims found in the book, the rebuttals to them, and how it can only do much more harm to your mind and soul than good. It claims to have a wealth of information, which it don't really that will never amount to everything. It claims it's made for people about 13 year old and older and a perfect book for your family library. Actually this is a perfect book to be thrown in the burn barrel along with your daily trash than to have it in your library. There is a paperback version of the book with a different cover on it with a silhouette of a running T.rex shown on the front that has black and white images found inside the pages as well as some additional myths and claims including the fabricated myth about the Archaeoraptor fossil that's really 2 dinosaurs forged into one by a Chinese farmer who dug them up, forge them into one fossil and sold them in a illegal fossil black market to Stephen Czerkes who later found out about the fossil being a chimera, 2 real fossils, a Microraptor and a Yanornis fossils forged into one. I've seen this version before in a Christian bookstore at one time. Yet, this is no different than the colorized version of it. They're both all the same.
Acknowlegements From Ham
Page 3 in the book contains a word of thanks to all those who helped with the book, which of course is his cronies. One of them is his brother, a fundamentalist pastor who doesn't know what he's talking about in his sermons when it comes to science and evolution, he's no different than his brother.
Ham's So-Called Appendixes
Page 6 shows the intro to the book telling the reader about what the book has in it and how it is divided up into Appendixes, A, which contains actual out of text quotes from real dinosaur literature as well as quotes containing myths and empty YEC “theories” about dinosaurs coming from YEC literature and out of text Bible verses that are twisted and distorted to fit the views of the YECs and B, which contains a list of literatures from various publications, all of them real dinosaur books Ham does a lot of quote mining from. Ham, in the book, attempts to demonstrate “that with one takes the fabricated events made up based on our Bible interpretations, as well as the fabricated doctrines of Christianity also made up by us that's all centered around Genesis 1-11 distorted the way we want it, then the entire way of ignorance can be applied to none of the areas of the created universe.” (my emphases in bold.)
No Such Timeline
Ham thinks that True Christianity starts with the time-line history as given in scripture. Problem is there is no such time-line found in the Bible as told by Ham and other YECs. Ham also thinks when one person understands this, the reader will find it easy to give out many answers to a variety of questions, including dinosaurs. It doesn't. There is no understanding and reasoning in YECism, Bible interpretations and all. Just lies, falsehoods, and slander. No honest answers, no logical reasoning, no valid evidence, nothing. Ham assumes once the reader has read through this book and understands its approach, the reader will apply the same reasoning in other areas. Problem is there is nothing in YECism to apply to in life. No reasoning or understanding at all. Just one denial after another. The only answers the readers are encouraged to give out from this book is all false, dishonest answers that don't mean a thing. And why does Ham have to regard the Bible as in large capital letters “the history book of the universe?” More on this a little later on. Page 7 tells about who else, but the charlatan himself. No big deal.
YE Hypocrisy
Page 9, on the other hand, asks this question, “What Happened to the Dinosaurs?” A meteorite killed them. That's what happened. But nope, Ham doesn't believe it. He instead resorts to stupidity and ignorance by stating that evolution and dinosaurs go hand and hand. So what? There's nothing wrong with that, thanks to great numbers of scientific evidence that's out there. Ham, however, would rather have YEC and dinosaurs go hand and hand and nothing more. Problem is they don't get along well that way and needs to be separated. The next statement just come to show of how hypocritical Ham is by stating that dinosaurs has been used to convinced children and adults that there has been millions of years of history (There has been actually billions of years of history on planet earth, not millions.). The same tactic YECs used only to convinced children and adults that there has been thousands of years of history instead of the other way around. Like I said, the Bible actually explains zilch about dinosaurs (except birds) and the age of the earth and he knows it. But he doesn't want to admit it. Instead he just falsely declared, as before, that the Bible can be used to explain dinosaurs in a concept of thousands of years and solve the mystery of what happened to the dinosaurs and when do they lived, which the Bible actually explains nothing of. Ham invokes Colossians 2:3 that God has hidden in the earth treasures of wisdom and knowledge. The treasures of wisdom and knowledge according to Ham that doesn't exist. The real treasures of wisdom and knowledge God stores in the earth is what Ham deliberately ignores. Ham is ignoring the rich treasures of wisdom and knowledge that gives out hard core evidence for everything opposite of what Ham claims because he has deluded himself into believing in this YE toiletry he and his cronies are churning out themselves on a day to day bases.
No Mystery to Ham's Ignorance
Next Ham asked the question “Are dinosaurs a mystery?” A meaningless question. Much about dinosaurs is mysterious including their color, their appearance, and their sound. So why is Ham invoking such a question like that? Simple. He is doing that in an effort to cast doubt in the minds of the reader of what the reader has learned in science class in school.
Ham thinks that dinosaurs are only a mystery when it come to the evolutionary “story.” What Ham thinks it's a made-up lie is actually true based on valid scientific evidence. The evidence Ham deliberately ignores. He gives out the normal version of dinosaur history. Then he gives out his own version of dinosaur history. There is nothing biblical about the earth being created 6,000 years ago at the time of the Egyptian Predynastic era and the construction of Stonehenge. There is even nothing biblical about the concept of millions of years of death, bloodshed, disease, and suffering because the concept is entirely made up as an emotional plea to convince the gullible. The concept of millions of years of death, suffering, disease, and bloodshed only happens in history involving religious crusades and in the Transformers universe in The Transformers series where the Autobots battle the Decepticons over the control of Cybertron, Earth and the rest of the universe. There has been fossils of dinosaurs found with diseases and injuries on them as well as teeth marks on them. But that doesn't mean there was such a time as millions of years of wars involving death, bloodshed, disease, and suffering as told by YECs using propaganda and emotionalism to lead people astray into believing in a world that never was. Did you know that when the YECs claim that the original creatures were created to reproduce after their own kind, they are actually advocating their own version of evolution, Punctuated Equilibrium style? The very same thing they claim for it to be a lie is the very same thing they are advocating in their talks. What a bunch of hypocrites! Otherwise, what the YECs have in mind is the Dolly syndrome, having animals reproduce a carbon copy of themselves like cloning machines.
Human/Dinosaur Falsehood
There were no humans at the time of the dinosaurs. But Ham thinks dinosaurs walked with Adam and all other humans at one time, while being ignorant of the evidence against what Ham advocates. Otherwise we will see dinosaurs roaming around in zoos as well as be seen in all valid ancient records of all types also as well as remains of dinosaurs found mixed with remains of all humans plants and animals of the past and present in all layers top to bottom. 4,500 years ago, Egypt undergoes a special project of building one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Pyramids. No accounts of having them using dinosaurs for their projects nor being force to call it quits when a wall of water comes their way has ever been found. But Ham thinks that Noah's flood occurs at that time, drowning the dinosaurs, humans, and everything else outside the ark. No evidence for what Ham advocates has been found. If there was such a world after the flood, then we would find dinosaurs roaming the time of the Roman Empire and the War of the Roses. But none are found. What YECs uses to promote false evidence of dinosaurs being dragons is taking various types of medieval and other ancient artifacts out of context, distort them, and just tell it like it is. Ham is right. There is no mystery about dinosaurs. Just blatant, stupid lies and nothing else.
The Difference
“Why are the views so different?” is the next meaningless question asked on page 11. I'll answer that. Keyword is “evidence.” One has evidence for what they claim. The other has none. But don't think that the evidence refers to what Ham thinks, for the one view that has none is the one Ham advocates, while the other he opposes has scores and scores of evidence Ham choose to deny. Ham, however thinks the views are the same. How can it be while I mentioned the difference between the two? Ham thinks scientists have only fossils to help explain dinosaurs. True, but what Ham assumes the question scientists are asking each other about and what scientists are really asking about the fossils is two different things. Unlike what Ham assumes, they make fossil discoveries and uncover fossil evidence while going on expeditions to certain areas. The discoveries made by the scientists cause them to ask questions about what they discovered. Then, they begin to sought answers to questions made based on what they have discovered and come up with logical theories to help explain things based on evidence they found. Ham and others, on the other hand, make up lies, try to find evidence for them, find none so they make more lies up as they go. That's is the real difference between the deluded creationists and real scientists. Ham says that no scientist has lived through all history of the earth. Neither has the creationists, but they don't care. Instead they rely on their “Teddy bears” and “security blankets,” a “pagan idol,” and a “puppet” to help spread their stupid lies around.
