The common ancestor of + all descendant forms which are closer to Neornithes, than Ceratosauria.

Autapomorphies of Tetanurae include:

a)Lack of an enlarged dentary fang

b)Large, circular maxillary fenestra

c)Tooth row entirely antorbital

d)Scapula straplike

e)Proximal half of metacarpal I contacts metacarpal II

f)Manal digit IV absent

g)Obturator process present on the ischium

h)Footlike expansion of the distal end of the pubis

i)Ascending process of the astragalus

j)Metatarsal III proximally compressed
