Tarsus

The tarsus (plural: tarsi), refers to the cluster of bones of the pes located between the metatarsals and the tibia/fibula. It is known as the hock in many digitigrade animals.
Elements
The following bones are often found as elements of the tarsus (with alternative names in brackets).
- Talus (or astragalus, or, occasionally, tibiale in primitive tetrapods)
- Calcaneus (or calcaneum or, occasionally, fibulare in primitive tetrapods)
- Centrales - 'central bones'
- Tarsalia - 'ankle bones'
- Cuboid (4th os tarsale) in mammals
- Cuneiforms (1st-3rd os tarsalia) in mammals
