Talk:Rheiformes

Are there any ornithologists here? According to Wikipedia's Ratite page, all of the ratites have been grouped in the orders Aepyornithiformes (elephant birds), and Struthioniformes (everything else), while all of my books have the ratites in their own orders. Have they been reclassified? user:Apokryltaros 19:30 Dec 29, 2005

I was wondering myself. When I learned that the birds around here (Paraguay)are rheas, I immediately recalled Rheiformes, but the page here on rheas classifies them as Struthioniformes. The birds in the zoo here are much taller than the 3' to 3'-4" stated on that page for Darwin's Rheas, which are called Ñandúes here. They must be 5 to 6 feet tall. user: Thomas Keyes June 7, 2006
