Talk:Quote-mining

It's funny, becuase when you say "The practice of quote-mining is roundly despised for its inherent dishonesty, and is one more reason that real scientists tend to view Creationists as intellectually dishonest." You are commiting a fallacy I call "generalization". You pick one mistake one person did, and then generalize it to everybody in that person's group. Actually, isn't this called "stereo-typing"?

What you mean is the Fallacy Fallacy. But it's not "one person". Quote-mining is common practice among creationists. It's their main "weapon". Of course there are creationists who don't do it, but of those that write books and articles, I don't know any. Do you? --tk (t) 08:09, 18 Apr 2005 (BST)

What Kettenring said. I'll give you $10 for every Creationist author you can find who doesn't make use of mined quotes -- but only on the condition that you pay me $10 for every Creationist author who does make use of mined quotes. If quote-mining truly isn't a widespread practice among Creationists, I'll surely end up paying you bunches and bunches of cash, right? Cubist
