Talk:Punctuated equilibria
From EvoWiki
Seems to me that the Notes section and its FAQ discussion belong here rather than on the main page. But, I'm new to this - so just mentioning it here. --VLS 01:01, 11 Aug 2004 (BST)
- I think this page should aim at becoming a t.o. FAQ on the subject, since it needs one --Oplopanax 12:04, 27 Aug 2003 (BST)
- There is a t.o. FAQ on the subject already. /faqs/punc-eq.html
- Oh. Here she is: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/punc-eq.html
Done. -- Thomas Kettenring
- The original phrase was "punctuated equilibria". Check the E&G 1972 chapter. The use of the singular form is relatively more common among antievolutionists than evolutionary biologists. Having the article use the singular form marks it as being a bit sloppy.
- Nah -- Gould exclusively uses "punctuated equilibrium" throughout _The Structure of Evolutionary Theory_ (2002), which in a way is the final word.
