I've been finding sea fossils in the hills of my hometown coiuncidentally on Chevrin oil fields. Ine ciolleague, a science teacher says the area was civered by warm, low level ocean waters some 136 million years ago. We're located approximately 35 miles from the coast in SoCal. What should I do?

  1. I'd suggest you try to identify what fossils they are. Is there a college or university in your area with paleontologists on the faculty? If so, try getting in touch with them and asking "what is this thing, anyway?" Failing that, I'd recommend consulting your local library. With any luck, it's got a number of good books on fossils and how to identify them. Have fun!
