science calls this Co-Evolution.

Yes, we know this already. Ideally, we want to show several, specific examples of orchid/pollinator co-evolution, such as the way male Eulaema bees use orchid scent to woo the females, which in turn, are the only insects strong enough to penetrate and pollinate Brazil nut tree flowers. Then again, not all orchids benefit their pollinators, and not all orchids require specific pollinators, like the way one species lures syrphid flies with the odor of aphid honeydew, or the way Epidendrum radians can be pollinated by almost any insects, from small butterflies to ants. Some orchids don't display co-evolution, in that their self-fertilizing flowers don't need pollinators, such as the underground-blooming orchids of Australia, or the British Bee Orchid.--Mr A. 23:12, 2 April 2006 (BST)
