Talk:Day-age creationism

The problem with the sun is not as much the bible text as it is the interpretation. Consider this alternative point of view. The story is written from the perspective of a human from the surface of the earth should he have been pressent at the time
Then the problem is simple: first the planet had a dark heavy atmosphere, over time part for it went up to the waters above and part of it condensed to the waters below and a great expanse (the horizon) became visible. Part of this process would have resulted that the darkness would have been less during the day and more during the night. (Gen 1:2-10)
So we have light... which the plants can then use to do their thing. There is no reason to assume then this process of separation would stop, especially given the oxygen released by the plants. So some time later the sky would clear up above land (assume pangea) and for the first time one would be able to see the source of the light: the sun during the day and the moon during the night. (Gen 1:11-19)
As for the birds before fish:
And God went on to say: "Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls and let flying creatures fly over the earth upon the face of the expanse of the heavens (Gen. 1:20)
Ignoring that it does not say fish and birds as such: In my book (no pun intended) this means that fish came before birds. Given that the vegetation was only just started it's posible that the was not all that much, and that only flying animals could in fact feed them selfs by canvassing huge areas.

Why was this vandalisme?

The interpretation given in the article (which is very extreme and unreasonable) is not the only one, and the part about birds before fish is just plain wrong. It smells like a straw-man attack. Maybe it's better to check the facts and be reasonable?

Someone replaced the article by his own opinion:

-- Edit: With further review of the book of Genesis, a researcher can find that the text says in verses 3-5 that God "created" the light called "day" and darkness called "night" before he created plants. Therefore, there must have been some solar star giving the biblical earth light. In verses 20 and 21, it says that God made the "great creatures of the sea" and then "every winged bird according to its kind."
Therefore, this definition is scientifically biased and does not merit publication of any kind.

I reverted that. --tk (t) 07:25, 10 Nov 2005 (GMT)
