Ussher's claims not unique
Someone should note on here that Ussher was not the first to make such "calendar claims" for Biblical events. Several contemporaries also did so, and some earlier writers. Of course today he is the most well known example and the one more frequently cited by Creationists. His book is reprinted and carried by some conservative christian bookstores.
Something else should also be mentioned about the typical claim of these types of writers that the world would also end on a specific date (say, 6 or 7 thousand years from the date of creation). See wikipedia for more info...
