Symbiogenesis
From EvoWiki
Symbiogenesis is a theory of speciation put forward by Lynn Margulis and Dorion Sagan in their book "Acquiring Genomes" and other publications. Their theory downplays the importance of mutations in speciation and proposes that most speciation occurs through the "fusing" of two species.
[edit] Examples
Some examples of symbiogenesis put forth by Margulis and Sagan in "Acquiring Genomes" are Elysia viridis, lichens and cows.
