Stuart Kauffman

Stuart Kauffman is a geneticist, biochemist and biophysicist. He is external professor at the Santa Fe Institute, professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania and founder of the Bios Group LP (now part of NuTech Solutions).
Kauffman is a proponent of self-organisation as an important mechanism in evolution.
He is the author of the books At Home in the Universe: The Search for the Laws of Self-Organization and Complexity (1995, OUP) and The Origins of Order: Self-Organization and Selection in Evolution. (1993, OUP).
