Saltasaurus
From EvoWiki
Saltasaurus (Type species: Saltasaurus loricatus Bonaparte & Powell, 1980) was a relatively small Cretaceous Sauropod, only about 12 meters long. Saltasurus was named for the province in Argentina where it was discovered. Later discoveries were made in Uruguay. The most interesting thing about Saltasaurus was that it was characterized by bony dermal plates which acted as armor to protect it from predators. Also significant was that it lived during the late Cretaceous period; most sauropods died out at the end of the Jurassic.
