Richard Owen

Sir Richard Owen (1804-1892) was an eminent Victorian anatomist, and favorite of the Royal family. His accomplishments included describing the moa family from a single isolated bone, naming Dinosauria in 1841, and producing the first detailed description of Archaeopteryx lithographica. Owen has also earned notoreity in science history for his opposition to Darwinian evolution.
