Ribonucleic acid is a macromolecule important for life related to DNA. It appears as mRNA, tRNA, and other forms.

Chemical Properties

Each RNA molecule consists of at least a few dozen units, which in turn consist of:

Sugar-phosphate backbone:
- A ribose monomer (A pentose 5-carbon sugar C₅H₁₀O₅).
- A phosphate group.
An organic base, one of: adenine (A), uracil (U), cytosine (C), and guanine (G).
