Peter Wellnhofer

Peter Wellnhofer, of the "Bayerische Staatssammlung fuer Palaeontologie" in Germany, is both a leading authority on the osteology of the urvogel, but also on the evolution of Pterosauria. Wellnhofer has been involved in the discovery and description of all the Archaeopteryx finds during the last century, authoring a gorgeous monograph in 1974 on the Eichstatt specimen and in 1992, describing the most recent urvogel material. Wellnhofer is also a proponent of ornithodiran polyphyly.
