Molecular genetics
From EvoWiki
Molecular genetics is the sub-field of genetics concerned with the study of the molecular machinery that translates the genotype (what genes an individual possesses) into phenotype (the final shape and abilities of the individual). Particularly, molecular genetics studies the deterministic nature of this process, free of environmental variance and catastrophes.
The field of sequence evolution can be considered a sub-discipline of molecular genetics.
The field overlaps with molecular biology and other fields of genetics.
