Long terminal repeat

Long terminal repeats (LTRs) are, as the name suggests, long repeating sequences of DNA several hundred nucleotides long found at either side of proviral DNA. LTRs are believed to play some role in the integration of viral DNA into the host genome, as they are found on retroviruses and transposons.
