  • Eclectic - picking and choosing ideas without good criteria
  • Ecological Fallacy - concluding that a property of an element of a set is like the average value of that property for the set
  • Either/Or - giving two possibilities as the only two when in reality there are other possibilities

  • Ex Concessis - attacking the opponent by attacking a person who is somehow related to him
  • Exaggeration - claiming that for A to be true, you need B and C, when in fact B is enough
  • Excluded Middle - giving two possibilities as the only two when in reality there are other possibilities
  • Exclusion - picking and choosing the evidence for one's case, neglecting the evidence against it
  • Exclusive Premises - "no mammals are penguins, no mammals are birds. therefore no penguins are birds"
  • Exclusivity - if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail to you
  • Existential Fallacy - "all unicorns are mammals, therefore some mammals are unicorns"
  • Experimenter Bias - when a measurement leaves leeway for the measurer, his prejudices will taint the results
  • Extended Analogy - when arguing for one hypothesis to be true, pointing out another, true hypothesis having some superficial similarities to the first
