Isopoda ("equal feet") is the most diverse of all crustacean orders, with its members occupying virtually every single environment imaginable, from suburban gardens, to the bottom of the oceans. The most commonly encountered isopod is the common pill bug, Armadillidium vulgare, originally from Europe, but now has a world-wide distribution, especially in agriculture, and suburban yards and gardens.
