Institute for Creation Research

The Institute for Creation Research is a creationist organisation based in San Diego, California. The ICR is a splinter organization of Christian Heritage College, founded by Henry Morris in the 1970s. Despite the use of the word "research" the ICR is more concerned with producing books full of debunked creationist arguments, running a popular website [1] and making creationists sound credible [2]. The ICR is probably the most influential of all creationist organisation.
Though the ICR does little research, one notable project included five expeditions to the Congo to find Mokele mbembe, a fictional creature that ICR member Williams J. Gibbons claims to be a living dinosaur. The institute has been a "hairsbreadth away from filming a specimen" since 2002.
