Responses

  1. The Ica stones are nothing more than a hoax made up by villagers in Peru who dug up the stones from a farm field and carved on them, using sci-fi literature like comic books, comic strips, and pulp fiction as reference to help them out.
  2. The Ica stones are made by local villagers to sell to gullible tourists. If the Ica stones really were the last remnants of an ancient culture, the stones would be the property of the Peruvian government, and their sale would be a felony.
  3. The Ica stones have never been dated, as their place of discovery and or origin have never been revealed to scientists.
  4. The Ica stones suggest a highly complex, technologically advanced civilization, yet, no other remnants of this civilization has ever been found to even suggest that it existed.
  5. The Ica stones depict Pteranodon, and dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops. Yet, no remains of any of the prehistoric animals depicted have ever been found in Peru, or even South America.
  6. The Ica stones were found in 1966 and depict Tyrannosaurus in a standing up position as it was believed at the time that they really walked. More recent studies on their anatomy and the biomechanics implied by it (of course, made by real scientists) actually prove that, rather, they walked by keeping their spine quite horizontal (just compare old movies showing T.rexs with the more familiar, more recent and more scientifically based, Jurassic Park). One would expect that if men DID live along dinosaurs, they would have made a more realistic image of them, with feathers as well (after all, real prehistoric depictions of animals that did coexist with humans, i.e, the rock carvings of giraffes and antelopes that once lived in the Sahara desert, are basically shown in their natural positions and coloring). As they are most likely a hoax, their forgers made them based on the information available at that time.
  7. Even if the stones were real, this still would not explain why there are no human remains found mixed with dinosaur remains.
  8. Even if the stones were real, they would prove nothing for the case of creationism.
  9. Even if the stones were real, the theory of evolution is not threatened by either the survival of some dinosaur breeds to present or the existence of unknown creatures.
  10. Even if the stones were real, they do not prove that humans interacted with dinosaurs any more than a Danny and the Dinosaur book, which is also "real" in the same sense. Not all dinosaur fossils are buried, and even the ones that are do not require a paleontology degree to accidentally find.
  11. "Dragons"are noted and depicted all over the world, mostly near places where dinosaur bones are found. One does not need to have lived with the actual beast to imagine what it might look like and weave it into one's mythology, often attaching wildly improbable qualities as well.
