Hypothesis

A hypothesis is an idea proposed as an explanation for a particular set of observations. In the context of science, the mere fact that a hypothesis exists is not especially significant; hypotheses are judged by their consistancy with existing knowledge, their logical consistancy, falsifiability, testability and most importantly, whether they are supported by experimental evidence.
