Hindlimb

The hindlimb (known as the lower limb in humans, and hindleg in tetrapods) is the posterior limb and is attached to the pelvic girdle proximally and to the pes distally. It allows for mobility and, in most animals, physical support.

It can be divided into two regions, seperated by the knee joint:

  • Thigh region
  • Crural (shin) region
