Herculano Alvarenga

Herculano Alvarenga, a Brazilian authority on Phorusrhacidae, and student of the temporal distribution of the phorusrhacid assemblage. Alvarenga has also worked extensively on the Upper Cretaceous avifauna of the Lecho Formation, describing with Jose Bonaparte the enigmatic neoflightless enantiornithine Patagopteryx deferrariisi in 1992.
