Harun Yahya

Harun Yahya is the pseudonym of Adnan Oktar, a Turkish creationist, although many of his opponents believe that he is a number of creationist writers using the same pseudonym because he has suposedly written a very large amount of books, many more than most authors write in their lives.
From his biography on his own website, he states "Born in Ankara in 1956, Adnan Oktar is a prominent Turkish intellectual. Completely devoted to moral values and dedicated to communicating the sacred values he cherishes to other people, Oktar started his intellectual struggle in 1979 during his education at Mimar Sinan University's Academy of Fine Arts. During his university years, he carried out detailed research into the prevalent materialistic philosophies and ideologies around him, to the extent of becoming even more knowledgeable about them than their advocates."
On the home website he/they claim "The books of Harun Yahya and thus this web site seek to recall various crucial facts, which people are led to disregard and even deny under the influence of the turmoil of the modern age. One of these basic facts is that of creation, that the universe, living things and man, are not self-existing entities, but the artifacts of God, the Supreme Creator. We are all created by Him and to Him we will all return. The allegedly "scientific" challenges to this fact — like Darwinism and other materialistic dogmas — are nothing but deceptions, as explained in this site." [1]

"The Skulls that Demolish Darwin"
Among the more remarkable works attributed to Harun Yahya is The Skulls That Demolish Darwin, [2] which contains (among other things) dozens of pictures of fossil skulls, claimed to be of modern mammals living in the Cretaceous period. These include:
- A leopard skull from 73 million years ago (p.81 of the PDF)
- A hyena skull from 73 MYA (p.70)
- A brown bear skull from 74 MYA (p.85)
- A polar bear skull from 74 MYA (p.114)
- An Asian lion skull from 79 MYA (p.74)
- A lion skull from 82 MYA (p.84)
- A wolf skull from 82 MYA (p.121)
- A jackal skull from 84 MYA (p.96)
- A spotted seal skull from 84 MYA (p.88)
- A lion skull from 85 MYA (p.110)
- A jaguar skull from 87 MYA (p.118)
- A grizzly bear skull from 89 MYA (p.68)
- A hyena skull from 90 MYA (p.178)
And many more. Needless to say, if such skulls actually existed, then evolution would be false. Not just slightly wrong, but completely, totally, and obviously false. Under the theory of evolution, there should not be modern mammals in the Cretaceous, any more than there should be rabbits in the pre-Cambrian.
Regrettably, the author does not tell us how the dates for these skulls were arrived at.
These skulls, if genuine, would revolutionize the field of paleontology, yet paleontologists seem unaware of them. The most likely explanation seems to be that Harun Yahya has simply made the dates up, and that they are in fact skulls from much more recent times.
Criticism
Amount of works
The most common criticism of Harun Yahya is the number of books attributed to him. Over 200 books have been attributed to him, and many of his critics claim that it is impossible for him to have wrote so many books. However, his site explicitly denies this, and states that ...the works of Harun Yahya do not consist of such technical subjects as chemistry, physics, biology and the like. Here, Harun Yahya has shot himself in the foot, by stating that he has made a large number of books that do not consist of any science.
Web site
On his website there is a guestbook section for readers to send a comment for other readers to view. Most guestbooks allow any reader to send a comment to the site and for this comment to be instantly viewable. Because of this, most websites have a range of comments, from criticisms to approvals, for browsers to read. However, on all of Harun Yahya's 86 pages of comments, there is not one negative comment, which strongly suggests that he has been adding comments selectively, removing anything that could put his 'theories' in jeopardy.
