Good evolutionist blogs

From EvoWiki

This is a page for collecting good blogs where evolution is a common topic. This was inspired by the blog of developmental biologist and t.o. regular PZ Myers at http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/.

ScienceBlogs (Biology section) now hosts a number of the previous independent blogs listed below as well as other of general interest to biology, including the "Ask a ScienceBlogger" section. [1]

The List

  • PZ Myers, Pharyngula -- Note: examples given in earlier version of this page seem to have been lost when Pharyngula moved to ScienceBlogs. ...heck, just search the dang blog.
  • Carl Zimmer, The Loom -- Zimmer has written many popular articles and books on evolution, and he and PZ Myers appear to read and comment on each other's blogs regularly.
  • Jason Rosenhouse, EvolutionBlog -- Rosenhouse reviewed Dembski's book No Free Lunch in Evolution and is continuing ID criticism in EvolutionBlog.
  • El Paleofreak -- A really worthy to read blog, if you understand Spanish.
  • Reed Cartwright, De Rerum Natura -- A blog by a genetics graduate student active in the fight against dumbing down science education in Georgia.
  • John M. Lynch, Stranger Fruit -- A blog by a biologist and historian of biology at Arizona State University.
  • John Wilkins, Evolving Thoughts -- John is a Talk.Origins veteran, Panda's Thumb (above) contributor and a certified philosopher of science looking at Evolution and Creationism from an Australian background.
  • The Evolution Project documents current research into Evolution, countering the creationist claims that there is no research or evidence for evolution, and no applications of the theory.

Good blogs where evolution occasionally comes up

  • Brian Leiter, The Leiter Reports -- University of Texas, Austin, law and philosophy professor, often castigates creationists; see the section on Texas Taliban Alerts.
  • Chris C. Mooney, The Intersection -- freelance skeptical journalist, writes frequently on creationism, including a devastating critique of the Discovery Institute's phony polls.
  • Joe Dunckley (Steinsky of EvoWiki), Cotch.net -- discussions of genetics, evolution, cell and molecular biology, the creationists' attempts to invade Britain, other pseudosciences and the fuss about religion.
  • Ed Brayton, Dispatches from the Culture Wars -- There are other issues discussed, but evolution, creationism, and intelligent design are the most common subjects.
  • Rose Nunez, No Credentials - Former English grad student fed up with awful thinking in the humanities. Often blogs on evolutionary psychology and the arts, especially literature.
