Genetic linkage

Genetic linkage is an association between genes such that the occurance of specific character combinations is more common for one's kin than for those unrelated.

Because the closer any two genes are to each other on a chromosome, the lower the chance of their being separated during recombination or repair processes, they are consequently more likely to be inherited together.
