Gap creationism

Gap creationism is a form of Old Earth Creationism. It attempts to harmonise between Genesis and an ancient earth by claiming there is a gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. The gap theory was popular with 19th-century OECs, but has nowadays given way to Day-age creationism and Progressive creationism in popularity. Gap creationism is also called "Ruin-Restitution".
