Flat Earth Society

A Christian Fundamentalist society that espoused the belief that the world was a flat disk, not a sphere. The movement was started by a biblical literalist with some overlap into creationism. It was the foundation of several cults but has steadily died out.
The flat earth concept is based on a single biblical reference that today many creationists dispute as implying a flat earth since they prefer not to be associated with such an obviously false concept. In fact some use the same passages to show biblical foreknowledge of a spherical earth. It appears it's all in how you read it.
