EvoWiki:Quick references

EvoWiki has a lot of pages about commonly cited and often recommended books. Many of these pages have a reference template which can be used to insert a reference or recommendation into an EvoWiki article without wasting time looking up details such as year and publisher.

To add a reference template for a book add the following code to the book article: <div style="float:right; width:250px; border: solid 1px #aaaaaa; padding: 3px; margin: 3px;"> '''[[EvoWiki:Quick references|Quick reference]]:'''<br> <nowiki>{{subst::[[{{PAGENAME}}/Ref]]}} </div> </nowiki> This will look like the box on the right.

Now create the new subpage /Ref and add the reference text to that page, in the following format:

For books:

{{Book | Author=[[Author|Last name, Initial(s).]] | Year=year | Title=[[Title]] | Publisher=Publisher (with location if applicable) | Isbn=isbn number}}

For journal papers, essays, reviews, online articles etc:

[[Author|Last name, Initial(s).]], year. "[[Title]]", in ''Journal etc'', extra details e.g. edition, [link].

Now to add the reference to any EvoWiki page just paste in the code that's in the grey-framed box!
