Euparkeria capensis Broom (1913)
The osteology and paleobiology of E. capensis has most recently been reviewed by Gregory (1954), and R. F. Ewer (1965). The specimen is the outgroup of all other Archosauria (sensu Gauthier 1984). It is allied to Archosauria sensu stricto on the basis of ankle morphology and the nature of temporal fenestration, as well as the osteology of the braincase, which is more intensely pneumatic than that seen in Archosauromorpha.
