Epigenesis

Process of structural transformation undergone by an organism moment after moment throughout ontogeny. According to Maturana & Mpodozis (2000), the ontogenic phenotype can only occur through a epigenetic process, (see natural drift). As a systemic process, epigenesis is a notion that contrast the traditional view of the phenotype being genetically determined in nucleotide sequences.
