Ham's Lie About When Dinosaurs Lived

Ham, on page 11, claims the reader might be saying, “What does all of this have to do with dinosaurs?” The real answer is none. None of this has anything to do with dinosaurs. However, Ham claims the book of Colossians in chapter one verse 16 tells us that God created everything [word capitalized]. But still, it has nothing to do with dinosaurs. Ham says God created dinosaurs (To be honest with you, I feel much discomfortable when I hear such phrases like that.) and that God created dinosaurs on day 6 of Creation along side of man and all other land animals God has made. Only in Ham's own fantasies is this the case. Ham then tells of how the dinosaurs were first coined by Sir Richard Owen years ago. Ham is one year off of what he claimed. The word 'dinosaur' was actually coined in 1842, not 1841. Ham also forgot that there was a third dinosaur that Owen was describing fossil remains of. Hylaeosaurus (forest reptile) that was described along side of the remains of Megalosaurus and Iguanodon. The fossils of these strange reptiles is what led Owen to coined the name Dinosauria meaning “fearfully great lizards.” The word “dinosaur” is actually a short version of it. Although an inappropriate word, for not all dinosaurs were 'fearfully great' and/or 'terrible' and none of them were lizards, the name stuck and eventually became a household word.

Making A Liar Out Of God

Ham then states that since dinosaurs were created on day 6 and Adam and Eve were also created on the same day, to Ham, it means only one thing. Ham assumes mistakenly with 100% absolute certain for sure that people once lived with dinosaurs because, to him, God, whom he claims doesn't lie (Yet the evidence pointing to the oppostite clearly states He is.), tells us in His Word that land animals and man were all created on the 6th day of creation. Faulty circular reasoning isn't it? God does not lie, but men, especially Ham, does and do a great job at making God into a liar when they claims He did this according to His Word, only to find that He actually did exactly the opposite! How can he claim that God doesn't lie, yet proves to the people one and for all that He is? And invokes Him and verses in the Bible like Numbers 23:19 to help justify their lies? It seems that Ham and others like him wanted to put God into a box and make Him agree with everything they say and do everything they want out of Him. But who are they to make God into a box and make Him into a controllable robot and a puppet? Ham just wants everyone, even himself to be ignorant of the fossil record that clearly tells us that dinosaurs all lived, flourished, and died out long before man; leaving behind birds as their descendants, which is futile to do since there is 100% no evidence of remains of dinosaurs and humans found mixed together in the fossil record. Face it! Using the Bible as evidence of Ham's fantasies is no evidence at all.

Ham Lies About When was Earth Created

On pages 12 and 13, The Ham teens are observing Adam and Eve tending to 4 dinosaurs, Megalosaurus, Heterodontosaurus, Scutellosaurus and Iguanodon. On page 13, there is Eve in the tree feeding a fruit to a Scutellosaurus (who never climbed trees, nor did it had 3 digit fingers on each hand in real life as mentioned before) while Adam watches from below holding a clutch of berries in his hand just as shown in the back cover of the book. Only to be accompanied by a flock of birds flying past a Iguanodon browsing, a Megalosaurus walking into the scene, and a Heterodontosaurus eating some modern fruit growing on a tree (The real one never saw or ate fruit like that.). On page 12, Ham claims the world was created 6,000 years ago, which means the world must have been created around 4000 BCE. He claims of this just by assuming that if you can add up all the dates of the genealogy life spans as shown in Genesis and dates of events that are shown throughout the Bible, then you will come up with the age of the earth and the universe to be about 6,000 years old, which there's no evidence for. Using genealogies, which may have gaps in them and eventful dates in the Bible, which are out of order in many cases, to calculate the age of the earth and the universe just don't add up. Scientific evidence clearly tells us that the earth is 4.5 billion years old and the universe is between 15-20 billion years old. We all live in a very ancient earth in a very ancient universe and yet Ham wants us and himself to believe that the earth was created at the same time as The The events that took place about 6,000 years ago during the alleged time of Creation. these events and happenings occurring at the same time during the Egyptian Predynastic period and the building of Stonehenge!

Food for thought: “To refute the young earth myth, look to the pyramids of Egypt!”

A So-Called Different View

Ham on page 13, claims this is a different view of history than the one we usually see on television, read in newspaper, or hear in almost all school (All throughout their literature and media, Creationists, especially Ham, would sleazily brand all their lies as mere "different views" and/or "point of views" and/or "differences in opinion" while in fact all of their claims are, hands down, nothing but blatant lies.). Ham claims the idea of dinosaurs living millions of years ago is all a lie. He believes he has reasons to believe that it is so. This is a lie itself. Scientific evidence, through high, accurate dating methods, clearly tells us that the idea of dinosaurs living millions of years ago is true. Ham just sleazily reasons that when we "believe" God (or do we?), then the [sic] truth is that dinosaurs and people first came into existence only thousands of years ago. It's anything but truth. God actually never told us that through scientific evidence as well as through the Bible that life first came to existence thousands of years ago. This idea is nothing more than an inventive tall tale made up by YECs like Ham, who would rather be ignorant than be someone who has an understanding heart and mind. God was not there seeing to the creation of dinosaurs and man to live side by side in reality. Only in Ham's fantasies is this the case.

Dinosaurs as "Dragons"

Dinosaurs, according to Ham, on pages 14 and 15 were called dragons in the King James Bible that was published in 1611 before they were called 'dinosaurs' in 1841 as told in Ham's book, never to be known that the word "dragon" comes from a Greek word that predates the King James Bible. More on this in a moment. To Ham, dinosaurs and dragons are one and the same and the dragons of the Bible are actually dinosaurs that people saw in God's Word, which is a blatant lie. The word 'dragon' is not an inventive word for the King James Bible. King James did not invent the word 'dragon'. The word 'dragon' in the KJV Bible is nothing more than mistranslations of bible verses that involves wolves, whales, and jackals. The word 'dragon' actually derives from the Greek word 'drakon', which means 'snake' or 'serpent'. All of the ancient literature tells of dragons to have snake like bodies, bat or bird wings in most cases, about 3 rows of sharp knife like teeth, a fiery breath, a poisonous bite, impenetrable scales with only one small week point on it and that's usually either under the wing or underneath its belly and a strong lust for gold. Never are Dinosaurs dragons - they're completely far from it!

When translated correctly, these verses mentioned on page 14 is actually referring to wolves and jackals, not dinosaurs or dragons. Dinosaurs are everything dragons are not and vice versa. Only in Ham's brainwashing, fantasy world is this the case. According to the fabricated stories of dragons made up by creationists on page 14, they were often bred by the Chinese in many legends, featured in old ancient books like the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, and on page 15, the kids, as shown from behind a hill, are witnessing one dinosaur being killed in Wales by a brave knight known as St. George of Wales. The stories are just nothing more than direct fabrications of legends and myths Ham and others like him have all made up. No Kentrosaurs in China and No Baryonyx being killed by knights either. Obviously, the YECs may have taken the folkloric stories out of text and twist them around to fit their beliefs like Ham does here.

Sightings of Celestrial Lights, Not Dinosaurs

There is actually only one account of dragons told in that ancient history book. And that is in the AD or CE of 793 account, where in it says that the people were forewarned of something horrible that's coming for them and were all terrified by signs in the air of immense sheets of light, whirlwinds and fiery dragons flying across the firmament.

This is nothing more than a direct fabrication of ancient sightings of shooting stars, comets, meteor showers, and other forms of lights sighted by the ancient people who didn't know what they were. So, they regard them as "dragons" streaking across the sky, giving them a very bad omen of what's to come that could spell doom, destruction, and despair for the people who saw the lights in the sky and live in that area.

Reference: The Legends and Myths of Britain. Note: It's under the title Dragons as Evil Omens.

Speaking of storms, back then it is believed that dragons were the ones responsible for creating storms, something dinosaurs could never do. Nowhere does it say anything at all about the dragons' descriptions fitting the dinosaurs because there is none found there! So obvious is Ham's ignorance. He probably never did looked at that book enough to know if what he said is the case, which really isn't. Even if he did, He'll just simply make up and fabricate the events and tell it like it is and forget about the fact that this book, whether fabricated or not, still fails to explain how come we are not finding fossil remains of dinosaurs mixed with the remains of humans in the fossil record. By the way, using ancient writings as proofs and evidences of dinosaurs being dragons that people meet, fought, and kill is the absolute worst thing you can do to further science. They are all nothing more than made up fabrications and myths that are in some cases fabricated and distorted by YECs to convince the gullible of their views.

Chinese Dragons

The Chinese may have bred alligators, not dinosaurs, and has worshiped them as gods too. No way do descriptions of Chinese dragons match that of dinosaurs. Unlike dinosaurs, Chinese dragons, as shown here, have long coiling snaky bodies, wolf-like heads, whiskers, a mane-like frill, have been known to create storms, and fly in the sky even though they have no wings and swim in the sea even though they don't have flippers. Unlike the dragons of Europe, Chinese dragons are very friendly, good natured, and have known to shower good blessings upon the people. This led the Chinese people into worshiping them as gods, not leading them around by a nose ring like cattle as depicted in the picture on page 14. There is no doubt that Ham and the Snellenbergers borrowed all of what is illustrated on pages 14 and 42 from James Gurney's Dinotopia, where it shows dinosaurs with spikes and horns wearing special jewelry coverings on them along with them being seen pulling wagons and carry heavy loads and people all throughout the book, which is most likely where he got all of his ideas for his fantasies from other than the rest of the sci-fi paraphinalia involving dinosaurs.

The Truth About St. George

The St. George and the dragon tale may have been a Christianized version of a Greek myth that tells of Perseus who killed a dragon to save Andromeda from being eaten by it. The dragon in both versions the story have descriptions that never match that of Baryonyx or any other kind of dinosaur.

Baryonyx never had bat-like wings and wolf like ears, nor did it have an arrow pointed tail, a lizard body, a fiery breath, a forked tougue, and a snaky body either. The dragon St. George slain was actually a Heraldic Dragon, a classic example of what a dragon is like with a narrow, arrow head, a barbed tail, forked tougue, long, narrow, pointed ears, a fiery breath, frilly spines along it's neck, back, and tail, 4 legs, and a lizard like body. YECs, who made Baryonyx in the image and likeness of a dragon, simply assumes that since St. George and the dragon is an English tale and the remains of Baryonyx that was found in 1983 was located in the same country where the famous story of St. George and the dragon are said to take place, then Baryonyx must be the dragon that St. George have killed, right? Wrong! Baryonyx was a Spinosaurid who lived, flourished, and died 120 million years ago during the early Cretaceous Period in what is now England, long before St. George and all of the rest of the human race was ever been born.

Kentrosaurus was a Stegosaurid who lived during the late Jurassic Period 150 million years ago in what is now Africa, not China.

More of Ham's "Dragons"

On page 16 and 17, the kids is shown observing fictional versions of the Mesozoic reptiles in the air as well as in the sea. On page 16, there is a Plesiosaurus holding seaweed in its mouth and swimming with dolphins. Underneath the sea, there is a Kronosaurus swimming with various types of modern fish and lobsters. Way above the pages there are large flocks of modern sea birds flying above the heads of the marine reptiles. Below them flew 3 Pterosaurs. Two above the cliff and one above the water. On page 16, Ham states (to him) that the verses in the Bible shown above in the paragraph tells about sea dragons being referred to the marine reptiles of the Mesozoic era while being ignorant of the fact that these verses, when put in context, are actually are all metaphoric and have something to do with Leviathan, a 7 headed snake like monster and have nothing to do with the Mesozoic marine reptiles.

Ham also claims the Bible even talks about pterosaurs as shown in Isaiah 30:6. Problem is that Pterosaurs don't have snake-like bodies and the verse in the Bible is most likely refers to flying snakes such as the paradise tree snakes and/or mambas that lunged forward repeatedly to strike at their foes and their prey. Ham then claims that the marine reptiles and the pterosaurs were both created on the 5th day of Creation while they actually appeared at the same time as the dinosaurs about 225 million years ago. He thinks that 'whales' in the Bible translate as dragons or sea reptiles and 'fowl' in the Bible are not necessary translated as birds, but as anything that flies, including pterosaurs, in the air. What he thinks is wrong. The word 'fowl' does mean 'bird' and it is used to describe only all birds, not pterosaurs. Pterosaurs don't have feathers. They have hair instead and have a different anatomy than birds have, so they are not to be included in the fowl category. The word in Hebrew does translate as 'snakes' or 'sea monsters' but it's not referring to the Mesozoic marine reptiles despite what Ham assumes. Marine reptiles and pterosaurs have all died out along with the non-avian dinosaurs, so no one ever saw them alive.

Studying The Bible Correctly

By studying God's Word carefully, the real way with verses studied and read in full context, we would find that the Bible clearly tells nothing of what Ham claims. YECism is all nothing more than a mockery of science. A bad apple among the good that will spoil the whole bunch unless it's removed! People, especially Christians, don't need to hear Ham's stupid lies, nor his faulty out-of-context interpretations of the Bible, nor buy into his nonsense about his views of the Bible being the one and only view that accurate and correct either. Even studying the Bible and learning about God's Word won't help in justifying them either. Sure God's word is pure. But Ham's word ISN'T!

A Imaginary Scenario

On page 19, there is a scene where 2 dinosaurs, 1 mammal-like reptile, and 2 pterosaurs; a Deinonychus with 4 fingers on each hand instead of 3, two toes with a wrongly arranged sickle clawed toe on each two toed foot, a naked scaly skinned body, and wrongly eating fruit, a Ceratosaurus wrongly eating palm leaves, a gorilla, 2 spider monkeys, and a perching Anurognathus wrongly feasting on fruit as Adam and Eve busy themselves feeding another Anurognathus fruit, which is the wrong kind of food for this pterosaur (The real Anurognathus actually ate bugs, not fruit.), and watching a gorilla feasting on plant stalks. In the foreground on the lower left hand corner of the page, there is a Estemmenosuchus standing in front of a bush. A common sight in this sci-fi world of young earthism.

Ham's Ignorance Of Nephesh's Real Meaning

On page 18 and 19, there is that old all-herbivore myth were Ham asserts that everyone, including dinosaurs were all vegetarians. He claims that God have order all of the animals and people to eat plants. He's ignorant of the fact that this verse in Genesis 1:29-31 is really just a provision; to provide man and animals with plants and fruit to eat for food, not a commandment. Ham claims there were no meat-eaters back then. Instead, there were only plant eaters around at the very beginning. When confronted with the fact that when plants do die when they get eaten, Ham only denies it by stating that plants don't die the same way animals do because they do not have what the Hebrew word is called 'nephesh,' or 'Nepheshim' (plural) meaning "spirit" or “soul” The word actually is used to describe human souls as well as mammals who show expressions of feelings and emotions such as dogs and monkeys. To Ham, it means that only people and animals have souls found inside their bodies, not plants.

No Different Than Other Religions

This sounds like what is being echoed in many pagan religions throughout the world, especially in Native American religions where people believed that like humans, animals also have spirits in them too. The animals are worshiped as gods by the people who believed in the animals to have spirits in them as well as humans. Ham doesn't even realized that most Christians believed that animals do not have souls. Only humans have souls in them since God gave man a living soul when He created him in his own image, not animals. Young earth creationism is no different than all of the other pagan religions that embraces the animal spirit belief.

Plants Do Die!

However, the claim has neither merit nor foundation; entirely invented by the creationists who falsely reasons that the so-called loving, merciful God had never intended on having animals and people kill each other and die when he put them on Earth on days 5 and 6 of Creation Week and afterwards, while at the same time ignoring the verses in the Bible that tells of God's sincere intentions for people and animals to do just that (Exodus 11:5 is one of the best examples of this.). Ham's claim is all flawed in every way. As shown here on this page, plants DO die. YECs, especially Ham, deliberately forgets that plants do die and are compared with the deaths of humans in many verse in both the Old and the New Testaments of the Bible like this one for example,

“A voice says, "Call out." Then he answered, "What shall I call out?" All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, When the breath of the LORD blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”(Isaiah 40:6-8)

This means there was indeed death occurring in Eden before the Fall after all. Plants are alive! They are living beings like animals and people! They eat, they drink, they grow, they have genders, they reproduce and they DO die! What does Ham think they are, plastic? The only things in the world that does NOT have a nephesh or nepheshim (plural) in them is fish, bugs, reptiles, and rocks. Plain and simple. His idea of plants never dying is one of his usual idiotic lies he gives out from time to time. Here's another question. If the supposed commandment of God was for the animals that lived on dry land, birds, and humans, then what did the sea animals that lived in the water had to eat if there was no death occurring before the fall? According to Ham in his other idiot book The Great Dinosaur Mystery Solved!, only seaweed, kelp, and algae like the Plesiosaurus is doing on page 16, which is just as bad and laughable of a crackpot claims as the dinosaur as dragon claim! Just like all plants, if seaweed, kelp, and algae gets eaten, they die. If all animals eat plants, then the whole plant kingdom will face extinction; never to be given a chance to survive. Then what will the animals, fish, and people eat? Rocks? What a waste! A wasteful resource and features such as sharp, thick, deep rooted, homodontical teeth, eyes that see forward, and strong legs for running faster to chase their meals God has made, huh? Face it! If there ever was no death before the fall and animals and people are to eat things that do not have nephesh or nepheshim in them, let them eat rocks!

This, what Ham advocates, is all part of an appeal to emotion; a death tautology to arouse people's emotion without leading them into the truth behind the matter. All the result of a ploy; to play around with people's emotions and trick them into give in blindly their side with out giving themselves a second thought on what YECism is really all about.

Animal Teeth

On pages 20 and 21, is the old sharp-tooth-don't-mean-meat-eater myth. Ham just simply invoked certain animals like the panda and the marine iguana to futilely prove that just because an animal has sharp teeth don't mean it's a meat eater. It's exactly the same as if to say that just because an animal has blunt teeth doesn't mean it's a plant eater (i.e. Mice, rats, even humans.). The claim is nothing more than an appeal to the reader's ignorance of the real functions and the structures of animal teeth and how the animals used them to eat their food. Invoking those flimsy flat kitchen knives that rust, bends, wears out, and needs sharpening from time to time won't help in justifying Ham's myth ever. Then, Ham makes more appealing to emotion by telling the reader of the so-called the saddest day ever in history which of course he referring to the Fall of man.

Appeals To Emotion

Pages 22 and 23 is all about a major appeal to emotion. Yes, the crying, the tearing eyes, the old violin playing melancholy in the background, that's what Ham does as part of a tactic to play around with people's emotions and get people to follow him and his teachings blindly not knowing of the truth behind it. Ham says that Adam and Eve disobeyed God when they listened to the snake and ate the forbidden fruit. This is what Ham says to be the saddest day in all the universe according his book. Tell that to those who were traumatized and victimized by this dramatic event and they will tell you totally different of what is really the saddest day in all of the universe.

On page 23, there is the scene of Adam and Eve trying out the forbidden fruit as the kids and a 4 legged snake with horns on its head, which it's really the Devil himself in disguise, watched while in the background, the dinosaurs and the other animals are engaging in peaceful, loving, activities unaware of what's going on in front of them.

What Kind of Death?

Right behind the foliage on pages 24 and 25, the Ham Teens saw Adam and Eve feeling a sense of regret were given cloths to wear from an animal skin and gets sent away from the Garden of Eden just after they ate the forbidden fruit. More emotional pleadings from Ham who claim that death came to the world through these 2 people. He insists that it is physical death that Adam and Eve brought into the world as told in Romans 5:12. He actually does not want his followers to know that this verse actually refers to a death that's spiritual, not physical and be ignorant of the other verses of the Bible that does have ties in with the verses in Romans that confirms the verses to imply a spiritual death, not physical (i.e. Romans 8:10). Ham gets preachy and says that the sin that Adam and Eve has committed effected everything, plants, animals, people, dinosaurs, everything. This is truly a YEC fallacy. How can innocent plants and animals be in sin while in fact it is really the 3 guilty ones, Adam, Eve, and the Snake who were the only ones involved with the crime? Ham claims the reason that one animal had to be killed to supply man with clothing so that he will know that there will be death in this word from now on. But that's not the real reason why God did it. He did it just to clothe the couple's own nakedness because they were hiding from God not wanting him to see their nakedness.

Ham's idiocy on Animal Sacrifice

Ham brings on the old crackpot drivel about the animals not being able to take away the sin from the human race because we are not connected with the animals as 'evolutionists,' an ad hoc invention to be explained later, teaches us (or so Ham claims.). If what Ham claims is so, then why did God, during the Old Testament Times, instigated the concept of animal sacrifice to take sins away from the people in the absolute first place if all this falls to do so? Such idiocy on Ham's part.

Ham, preachy as usual, states that there is another explanation to this which is this is a picturesque view of what Christ will do when he comes to earth to save us from our sins. This has nothing to do with dinosaurs, though.

More Emotional Pleading

On 26 and 27, the teens looked on in horror at what they saw. The murder of Abel by Cain, wolves chasing sheep, 3 pretend dinosaurs in Ham's mythic world featuring a Protoceratops fighting a Velociraptor to protect her eggs and young and a Oviraptor stealing eggs from a nest (Something that was common 80 million years ago in Mongolia concerning the 3 dinosaurs minus the Cain and Abel murder scene, the 2 kids in the background, the 2 sacrificial altars, wolves chasing sheep, and the thorn and thistle plants). Another emotional pleading by Ham, who refuse to acknowledge that death is a necessary part of life, is made on page 26. On the same page, there is a verse in I Corinthians 15:22 KJV that says “Through Adam, all have to die, but even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” The problem is that this is one of the verses taken out of text and twisted around to fit in with the YEC's own beliefs. The verse when read in full text says that through Adam, all of the human race have died a spiritual death, but through Christ, the whole human race will all be made alive again spiritually.

When God cursed the ground, what He really did is curse the land Adam had to lived and work on to get food for himself, not the entire earth. Here's reference to this.
