Deinonychus ("terrible claw") is an extinct genus of dinosaurs from the cretaceous (~110-100mya). Deinonychus was about 3 metres long, 1.5 metres tall, and was fast and bipedal. Three Deinonychus fossils have been found in the northwestern United States.
