  1. The second half of this claim is false. Its author has apparently never heard of, or perhaps just doesn't want to admit the existence of, such devout evolutionary scientists as Theodosius Dobzhansky (Russian Orthodox) and Bob Bakker (Pentecostal), to name only two of the more prominent such.
  2. Science today is far more religion neutral than it was in Darwin's time, which is actually a good thing for religion. Scientists are not the people who should be professionally interpreting their findings in a theological sense: they are not specially qualified to do so and in many cases aren't interested in playing that role, leaving others to do it if they wish.
  3. Newton acknowledged a creator, but today's gravitational physics doesn't mention Him anymore. Down with atheistic gravitational theory! The same could be said of most theories, including the germ theory of disease. There's nothing resembling an argument here. Science doesn't mention a Creator anymore because the scope of science is better defined and it does not deal with untestable ideas.
  4. Darwin also had a degree in theology, and set off on the Beagle partially to determine the validity of William Paley's teleological argument. What do Darwin's motives or background have to do with the validity of his methods or conclusions? What Darwin might or might not have believed is not the basis of Darwinism.
