Clavicle
From EvoWiki
(Redirected from Clavicles)
The clavicles (commonly known as the collar bones) are dorsal elements of the pectoral girdle. In Dinosauria these fuse to form a single bone: the furcula. They are especially prominent in animals where the forelimbs are used for grasping rather than support or mobility.
The clavicles articulate with the sternum medially (at the sternoclavicular joints) and laterally with the scapula (at the acromioclavicular joints).
