Carl von Linne

Carl von Linné (1707-1778), also known by his latinized name Carolus Linnaeus, was the founder of the system of binomial nomenclature, first outlined in the 1750s. Linné is also responsible for outlining the terminological infrastructure still used in taxonomic science today.
