Bones of the shoulder girdle

The shoulder girdle (alternatively the pectoral girdle) is composed of those bones that allow the attachment of the forelimb, including any that articulate with the skull or spinal column. In tetrapods, these bones may include:

• coracoid (in birds and reptiles)

• scapula

• clavicle, or if fused, furcula

• sternum

Other important aspects may include:

• glenoid

• triosseal canal

The shoulder girdle opposite is avian.
