Bishop James Ussher (1581-1656) was Primate of All Ireland and a scholar at the University of Dublin. He is known for his scholarly work in which he calculated that the earth was created on Sunday, October 23 4004 BC. He also determined that Adam and Eve were driven from the Garden of Eden on Monday, November 10, 4004 BC, as well as placing other dates from the Bible on the calendar.
