Bipedality (also known as Bipedalism) is the ability of some tetrapod vertebrates, including humans, to move around on their hindlimbs (of those tetrapod vertebrates who have two pairs of limbs, that is). Some bipedal vertebrates are capable of hopping or leaping around, using powerful hindlegs, along with a long tail for balance, such as kangaroos (Family Macropodidae), and some rodents (i.e., hopping mice, kangaroo rats, jerboas, etc).
