Codon
From EvoWiki
(Redirected from Anticodon)
A codon is a group of three adjacent nucleotides which specify an amino acid (or a 'stop' signal) in a polypeptide chain, as per the genetic code. The term particularly applies to messenger RNA in translation. An anticodon is the complementary sequence to the codon and is found on transfer RNA, a molecule attached to the amino acid. Codons and anticodons join together by base pairing, bringing the amino acids together in a chain.
