Aleksandr Ivanovich Oparin (1894-1980) was a Soviet biologist and biochemist and was most famous for his research into the potential origins of life [1] on Earth. He was the scientist who originally coined the term "primordial soup" [2] to describe the organic molecules that were dissolved in water billions of years ago.
